The revision pattern the evidence ranks lowest, a single heavy session of re-reading close to the exam, is the one most pupils default to. Dunlosky's review placed re-reading among the least effective strategies; as the card says, many students do the opposite of what works.
This strategy is unusual in the guide because its audience is the pupils. Teach them the schedule itself: study, return after two days, then a week, then a month. It is knowledge about learning, taught like any other knowledge.
